Bluefin trevally (Caranx melampigus)

The head and body are brass-coloured. The median fin is electric blue. The pectoral fin is yellow and falcate. The largest recorded parameters: length - 117 cm, weight - 43.5 kg. Coastal and oceanic reef-bound species. Juveniles are found in shallow water and in rivers. Feeds mainly on fish and crustaceans. With a length of more than 50 cm, it is often toxic.

Garfish (lat. Belone) or "sea pike" is a fish of the genus garfish.

Common garfish - sea, schooling, pelagic fish, i.e. living in the thickness and at the surface of the water. The garfish has a very elongated and narrow body, reminiscent of the body of an eel or needle fish. The scales are very small, pearly-shiny. The jaws are very elongated, forming a characteristic "beak" resembling that of a pterodactyl. Small sharp teeth on the beak allow the garfish to grab small prey - fish and crustaceans during fast swimming. In large numbers, garfish are found in the Black and other seas. There are many subspecies. In the Seychelles, it comes across when trolling, casting and fly fishing.

Adult fish are pure red with a darker back and a lighter belly. Juveniles may be whitish to pale reddish. Two deep furrows run from the eyes to the nostrils. The largest recorded parameters: length - 90 cm, weight - 12.5 kg. Lives on reefs and lagoons. Usually solitary, but may form groups. It feeds mainly on fish, but can eat shrimp, crabs and shellfish.
