Marbled coral grouper

(Plectropomus punctatus)


The back is dark brown, almost black, the sides are dark brown, fading into a light belly with a gradient. The back and sides are covered with numerous pearl specks. The eyes are red. The largest recorded parameters: length - 96 cm, weight - 12.2 kg. Usually found in shallow water, no deeper than 10 m, singly or in small groups. Often swims above the bottom. It feeds exclusively on fish.
