Pickhandle barracuda

(Sphyrnea jello)

Body with dark stripes crossing the lateral line. Each stripe is slanted at the top and vertical at the bottom. The caudal fin is often yellowish. The largest recorded parameters: length - 150 cm, weight - 11.5 kg. Often found in lagoons, estuaries, in shallow water, in reefs. Diurnal solitary predator in adulthood. It feeds mainly on fish or squid. Standard trophy for the Seychelles.
